Taxidermy, artifacts and art from legendary hunters and collectors and the top taxidermists will be up for auction at John Brommel’s Taxidermy and Western & Antique Auction Oct. 26-27.
The auction includes several legendary hunters’ private collections, including two full-size Bengal tiger and seven lion mounts, ivory tusks, bronzes, Western items and antiques. Other items include hippo and rhino skulls, full-body leopard and bear mounts, two walrus skulls, white-tailed deer mounts, jewelry, fur coats and hides.
The estates contributing include Larry White, of Fort Worth, John and Tracy Schultz, of Houston and Harvey Payne.
The auction will include more than 1,300 lots, including the private collections of nine estates, considered the best taxidermy collections ever sold.
“These are the best quality mounts I have sold in the past 30 years,” Brommel said. “There are mounts from some of the world’s best taxidermists, including Conroe Taxidermy and Heads Above the Rest.”
A catalog of items is available, and there are several ways to bid, including at the auction, internet bidding on Bid Spotter, absentee bidding and phone bidding.
A preview of the auction items will be held Oct. 25 from noon to 7 p.m., and buyers may attend the sale at the Will Rogers Cattle Barn 2 in Fort Worth.
