On June 17, the Beertta Gallery in Dallas unveiled the SL3 Dante, a commemorative shotgun to honor writer Dante Alighieri.
The exclusive, one-of-a-kind over and under was uniquely crafted with silver, gold and has designs of the Divine Comedy, Dante’s famous poem.
West of Verona in Northern Italy is the mountain village of Gardone Val Trompia, home of the famous Beretta factory. Beretta has been manufacturing firearms there for 500 years.
Going back even before that, the language that came to be thought of as Italian developed in central Tuscany and was first formalized in the early 14th century through the works of Tuscan writer Dante Alighieri, written in his native Florentine. Dante is also know for writing the Divine Comedy, a long narrative poem written in Italian circa 1308–21.
Last year, the Divine Comedy was written 700 years ago. To celebrate the anniversary, Beretta created a Dante themed over and under shotgun to commemorate the occasion.
