Just in time for the Bassmaster Classic, Strike King Lure Company has introduced the KVD Sexy Dawg designed by world champion bass fisherman Kevin VanDam.
VanDam designed the Sexy Dawg to be an easy to walk, far casting, premium “walk the dog” top-water lure with great action.
According to Mark Copley, public relations manager for Strike King, the new bait has an action that is unlike any top-water bait he has seen.
“It’s almost a cross between a couple of the most popular top-water lures,” Copley said. “It has the same type of mouth, but it is more cigar shaped in the body. It reminds me of an adaptation of the spook.”
Copley said what really sets the bait apart is the action on top-water.
“It has a unique sweeping motion,” he said. “It is totally different that anything I have seen.”
It comes in two sizes, a 3-hook version and a 2-hook version. The lure also comes in Strike King’s favorite colors such as clear sexy shad, chrome sexy shad, blue gizzard, chartreuse shad, bluegill and bone with an orange belly, among others.
“We’ve already started shipping to distributers, and it should be available by the time of the Classic (Feb. 24-26),” Copley added.
