Story from B.A.S.S.
On the Bassmaster Classic’s final day, Tennessee pro Ott DeFoe caught five bass from the Tennessee River that weighed 18 pounds, 14 ounces to win the Bassmaster Classic and its $300,000 top prize
DeFoe used a 3/8-ounce bladed jig to land most of his fish on the final two days, fishing shallow boat docks and the outside wall of a marina.
DeFoe’s three-day total weight of 49 pounds, 3 ounces helped him slip past second-place angler Jacob Wheeler, of Harrison, Tennessee, who finished with 45 pounds, 5 ounces, earning $50,000. Jesse Wiggins, of Cullman, Alabama, finished third with 43 pounds, 14 ounces, winning $40,000.
Todd Faircloth, of Jasper, was the top Texan at the event. He finished 24th, winning $13,000.
