Biologist turns his passion into two outdoor companies for a lifelong career.
Growing up in Texas, Charles Allen (the owner of Knives of Alaska) spent all his waking hours in the outdoors. Whether fishing, hunting, trapping or helping with the small family farm, he accumulated a wealth of hands-on training and then applied himself to a Masters in Biology degree. Eventually his career as a biologist and outdoorsman would lead him to drive a stake in the ground at the remote Tsiu River in Alaska.
Here he and his wife, Jody, built a fishing and hunting lodge, which they owned and operated for 29 years. Here he became an Alaska Big Game Master Guide, hunting Coastal Brown Bear and massive bull moose. Here he designed and field tested something that he and his staff used every day – knives. He named his knife company after this place he loved, with a motto that indicated dependability – “finest quality outdoorsmen’s knives.”
Because the logistics in Alaska would make the cost of the knives prohibitive, and since the Alaska lodge business was seasonal, he built his factory in his hometown of Denison, Texas.
Since 1992, Charles Allen and his dedicated team have been on a mission to redefine what a reliable blade should be. Crafted for the rugged outdoors and built to last, our knives have become essential tools for passionate adventurers like you. Whether you’re deep in the backcountry on a hunt, casting a line on a remote fishing expedition, or braving the harshest elements, you deserve a blade you can trust to perform when it matters most.
With over 30 years of unwavering dedication to craftsmanship and innovation, Knives of Alaska has become a trusted name for adventurers who demand nothing less than the best.
