One of America’s heroes lost his life this weekend.
Police in Stephenville, Texas say Eddie Ray Routh, 25, of Lancaster, has been arraigned on two counts of capital murder for Saturday’s shooting of former Navy SEAL and “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle, 38, and Kyle’s friend Chad Littlefield, 35.
The shooting happened at the Rough Creek Lodge located approximately 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth near Glen Rose.
Travis Cox, director of the nonprofit group FITCO Cares, a company that provides at-home fitness equipment for emotionally and physically wounded veterans founded by Kyle, said the pair had taken the former Marine to the range to “give him a helping hand and he turned the gun on them, killing them both.”
Routh, who served in the USMC from June 2006 to January 2010, is currently being held at the Erath County Jail on a combined $3 million bond.
