More than 120 partners and community members recently came together to celebrate the expansion of Sellmark Corporation’s headquarter facility in Mansfield.
Attendees, inlcuding LSON’s Mike Hughs and Conor Harrison, had the opportunity to tour the current building, learn about Sellmark’s brands and products, shoot rifles and crossbows, and enjoy some good ol’ fashioned Texas barbeque. A variety of products including laser sights, reflex sights, riflescopes, binoculars, backpacks and first-aid roll up kits were displayed, allowing participants to learn about the outdoor markets Sellmark represents.
Many community officials attended, including members of the City Council, Mansfield Economic Development Corporation, Mansfield Police and Fire Departments, and numerous business leaders.
“Sellmark’s expansion is a clear indication of their success and we are proud that they call Mansfield home,” said Mansfield Mayor David L. Cook. “[The city] looks forward to watching Sellmark grow for many years to come.”
Sellmark moved from Coppell in 2003 into a small subleased space in Mansfield. In 2005, the company relocated to a larger 10,000-square-foot building in Mansfield. By 2008, Sellmark had grown so much it had to split locations-the corporate offices in Mansfield and a separate warehouse in Arlington several miles away. Having split operations was extremely inefficient, making it difficult to handle the rapid growth. Sellmark moved from that area to its current 33,000-square-foot facility, which was built in 2011, combining all operations in one location.
The more-than-$2 million construction will give Sellmark an additional 33,000 square feet, providing more offices, a sound-proof production studio, a larger optics lab for product testing, and additional warehouse space for more inventory and increasing shipping operations worldwide.
Sellmark is currently in the process of purchasing available land next to the building for future development that will provide enough space for an additional 100,000-square-foot building. With this growth, Sellmark plans to continue creating more patents and trademarks, and possibly expanding manufacturing products. A state-of-the-art testing range is also being considered, which will allow Sellmark real-world testing for research and product development.
“We are looking forward to the expansion. Business has grown tremendously, but we didn’t get here alone,” said Chief Executive Officer Dianna Sellers. “We’re grateful for Mansfield’s community and its leaders who have helped guide us along the way and we thank them for their support. Our employees have been major drivers of company growth. Sellmark is constantly striving for excellence in its products and this expansion will help us as we head into the future.”
Construction on the expansion will begin next month, and is expected to be completed April 2014.
