The Mule Deer Foundation is looking for members for a new chapter in South Texas.
The Mule Deer Foundation, a 25-year-old grassroots conservation organization, is starting a local chapter in the Cameron County area.
An organizational meeting will be held Wed., May 16, 2012, at the Loma Alta Skeet and Trap Range, 500 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, Texas. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. All interested individuals are encouraged to attend and bring along a friend.
The Mule Deer Foundation is nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of mule deer, black-tailed deer and their habitat. Unlike other big game animals, mule deer have not adapted well to changes in their environment. As urban areas continue to sprawl, and more people build homes in rural settings, mule deer and their habitat suffer. Throw in a few major interstate highways and an occasional Texas drought, and it is a recipe for disaster. But we can help change the future for mule deer.
Nearly 115 local MDF chapters are located throughout the central and western United States. Chapter members help raise money for conservation, initiate programs that benefit wildlife and offer educational and outdoor opportunities to all.
