Story from Inland Fisheries Dallas-Fort Worth District -Texas Parks and Wildlife
Biologists from the Inland Fisheries Dallas-Fort Worth District had to wait for the rain and wind to pass, but we wrapped up our fall electrofishing surveys last night on Lake Ray Hubbard. For this survey, they only targeted largemouth bass, but saw plenty of sunfish and shad. Which means, there is plenty out there for bass to eat.
They caught largemouth bass ranging from 2 to 21 inches, with approximately one-third of the bass being legal harvest size. All size classes of bass were healthy and plump with relative weight values at or above 90.
In the chart above, largemouth bass catch rate, length distribution, and condition (health) from Lake Ray Hubbard. The grey bars are the number of fish caught per hour for each inch group. The vertical green line indicates minimum length limit for largemouth bass. Red squares are the relative weight value for each inch group which indicates fish health. A relative weight value above 85 is good.
