Lone Star Outdoor News contributor Nate Skinner and his teammate, Tim Young were named the 2019 Anglers of the Year for the Galveston Redfish Series on Saturday, August 17.
The duo secured their title with a 2nd Place finish in the GRS Championship on Saturday, weighing in 15.87 pounds.
The Galveston Redfish Series included 5 events and the Anglers of the Year results were determined by a point system. Teams earned points based on where they placed in each tournament, and the final point totals included each Team’s best 4 finishes. (Each Team’s lowest point value/finish from an event was dropped and the final point total was a cumulative value from each team’s best 4 events.)
Skinner and Young placed in the top 3 in 3 out of the 5 GRS events, including a 1st place finish, a 3rd place finish, and a 2nd place finish. These successes helped them rack up a total of 384 points to take 1st place as Anglers of the Year over the very competitive and highly skilled field of anglers.
