Story from Stockerbuck.com
First thing to consider is Accreditation:
There are over 1300 deer breeders in the state of Texas, and less than 10% of those are Texas Animal Health Federally Certified Breeders. This means that those deer breeders have been testing 100% their captive breeding herd for at least 6 years in order to qualify as a federally certified herd, and this also means that you won’t be buying your deer from some fly by night overnight operation with a huge advertising budget.
Most of the Certified Deer herds in Texas have all been in business for at least 10 years with a perfect track record “No Exceptions”.
“These are the only breeders that you should ever consider buying your deer from, whether you are stocking your ranch for the first time or you are a seasoned expert,” says Jay Reichert at Stockerbuck.com.
When you buy from these select Texas Breeders you can be sure they have put in the hard work to build great deer, and there will be very little chance that you will bring in to your ranch any foreign diseases.
Second thing to consider is Animal Health:
The actual quality of the product aka (The Deer), this is super important. There are a number of things to look at when buying Stockerbucks and Bred Does, but I’m talking about physiological traits exhibited by the actual deer.
Look at the body size and weight of the deer, look at the herd in general including the younger deer. Look at how they are fed, what they are fed, and the quality of the actual feed. Is the feed also a varied diet like, Protein, Textured Protein with higher Crude Fat, Alfalfa, and corn, and maybe even some form of crushed peanuts as a top dressing? These are all used to achieve a balanced diet, and these deer need to look as good as or better than the wild deer in that area. These are all things to evaluate before making your buying decisions.
Third thing to consider is Quantity and Quality:
Once you have evaluated the breeder it is time to discuss quantity and quality. A Breeder may be able to sell deer by TPWD but he may not be able to deliver a healthy deer in the process—Deer should be delivered stress free and in an air-conditioned deer delivery trailer. Also probably most importantly is quantity of bucks available. Does the deer breeder have enough bucks on hand to fill your order? You don’t want to have to buy Stockerbucks from multiple breeders and risk the chance of bringing deer in that might have worms or other problems.
It is much easier buying your Stockerbucks from one breeder. Stockerbuck.com has over 150 Stockerbucks ready to deliver this summer by Sept 22 which is TPWD cutoff date for Texas.
Fourth thing to consider is why look any further than Stockerbuck.com
