Huge auction includes tribute to Taxidermy King founder

by Lili Keys

From May 20 to 22, Taxidermy King will hold its three-day Western Sportsman Auction in Austin. This one, though, will be something special.

Taxidermy King founder and owner, John Brommel, died unexpectedly in February, and the auction will include much of his personal collection, along with the liquidation of eight other estates.

The auction will take place at Taxidermy King’s new auction house in Austin at 205 Farley and begins each day at 10 a.m.

The items include 94 life-sized mounts and consignments from the state’s top taxidermists. Highlighting the more than 1,500 lots are full body brown bear and crocodile, mounts of hundreds of big deer and just about every African and North American game animal, along with ivory, elephant tusks, antler chandeliers, jewelry, art and much more.

Brommel’s items include some of his favorites from his personal collection.

Other highlights include full-body lion, leopard, grizzly and brown bear mounts, hundreds of whitetails, including 400-inch deer, cougars, zebra mounts and hides, an awesome brown bear rug, antler lamps and chandeliers and much, much more.

There are three ways to bid:

  1. Live at the auction
  2. Online at Proxibid.com/taxidermyking
  3. Online with Texas HIBID.com

For questions about the auction, shipping, lots or bids, call Mark Thomas 832-829-000
