Hybrids caught all over Lewisville Lake, if wind allows

“They are sporadic during the spring time,” said guide Don Gatlin, talking about his recent hybrid fishing trips on Lewisville Lake.

Gatlin prefers a little wind when fishing for hybrids, but too much can be an issue.

“You want a little ripple,” he said, “but when the wind picks up it’s hard to control the boat and it’s hard to present the lure slowly.”

Galtin said that hybrids can be caught all over the lake. He caught six hybrids early this week on a Sassy Shads in fairly clear 53-degree water around humps.

Galtlin prefers when he has more than 3 feet of visibility in the water.

“I caught my stripers in the main part of the lake, but others are catching them in the creeks,” he said.
