Picture 006 543x407There have been a lot of fish ready to eat in Galveston Bay, according to Capt. Alan Pereyra.

“It’s been pretty good,” he said. “It was a little bit slower today as far as keepers, but we probably caught about 60 to 75 fish.”

Pereyra said a lot of trout have been caught, but the redfish haven’t been left out.

“Today we spanked the redfish and we weren’t really even trying for them,” he said. “And we’re catching a lot of trout. Weather is everything this time of year.

“If you get decent weather, you’re going to catch fish.”

Pereyra said a few flounder have been caught, but he hasn’t been targeting them, preferring to focus on trout. Carolina rigging with mullet is his favorite flounder rig.

For the trout and redfish, live shrimp under a popping cork has been working the best.
