A Marietta man wound up in the hospital last week after he shot at an armadillo in his yard at 3 a.m. with a .38 revolver and the round ricocheted back, hitting the man in the face.

According to Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe, the man went outside his home southwest of Texarkana Thursday morning. He spotted the armadillo on his property and fired at least three rounds.

“His wife was in the house,” Rowe told reporters. “He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo. We didn’t find the armadillo.”

The man was airlifted to a local hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries to his jaw, according to reports.
