With early youth only deer hunting season opening this past weekend, Noah Lencioni, 15, reported harvesting an 8-point white-tailed buck on Oct. 29 in Cooke County on a low-fenced ranch. Noah harvested the buck offhand at 70 yards with a .243 Ruger American rifle equipped with a Leupold 3-9×40 scope.
Hunting was also part of Lone Star Outdoor News’ Operations Manager Mike Hughs’ weekend. He arrowed an axis doe at a Kendall County ranch.
Instagram’s tx_joe reported a great weekend chasing quail in south Texas during the quail opener. His photo showed both blue and bobwhite quail taken. Meanwhile, Craig Nyhus brushed his friend’s duck blind near Axtell and David Sams sighted in a rifle for an upcoming Lone Star Outdoor News Foundation deer hunt.
On the fishing front, Capt. Scott Sommerlatte was catching large jacks this morning near Port O’Connor.
