The Nikon MONARCH HG binocular was selected as the winner of the 2017 Best of the Test Award by Field & Stream magazine.

According to the magazine, this year’s test was the largest test of optics to date, comprised of the largest number of contributing editors and hunters, including optics professor Jim Zavislan from the University of Rochester.

Field & Stream’s deputy editor, Dave Hurteau, said “most of the testers, when asked which binocular they’d choose for everyday hunting, clutched these Nikons the closest.”

The MONARCH HG integrates Nikon’s renowned ED glass and Field Flattener lens system for exceptional high-resolution viewing.

Value was a consideration in the testing, and the MONARCH HG was up against binoculars costing $2,000 or more.

The MONARCH HG retails at $999.95 for the 10×42 and $979.95 for the 8×42.

“The HG hits the sweet spot for hunters who want a high-quality binocular to cover all their needs, and do it at a fair price,” Hurteau said.
