Guide Wyatt Foster caught a rare occurrence, he caught not only one, but two CCA Star Tournament Tagged Redfish.
Foster, who guides out of the Galveston-Matagorda area, caught both of the prized fish on Down South Lures in Pure Watermelon paired with a Texas Custom Lures jig head.
Since Foster is a guide, he is not eligible to receive the prize packages for catching these redfish. They were released back into the water for another angler to catch.
“In 34 years of the CCA Texas STAR Tournament, this has never been done before,” CCA STAR commented on Foster’s post.
On June 2, the organization confirmed Foster’s catch was “history making” for the tournament:
You may have seen this video going around on social media or group chats and we want to officially confirm that Captain @wyattfoster_ has indeed made STAR history by catching TWO Tagged Redfish BACK TO BACK!
Congratulations, Wyatt, and THANK YOU for releasing both redfish so that another registered and eligible angler can catch the prize of a lifetime.
