The weeds are growing, the trees are blooming and the water is warming — all great signs for fishing success. That, plus turkey season, means a busy spring.

SPRING BREAK FISHING
Spring break is in full swing, and many are taking advantage of the fishing. Whether it’s big black drum in Galveston, crappie in East Texas or largemouth bass on a ranch pond, reports of biting fish are coming from all over the state. Some even caught a bonus in a stocked Hill Country creek — rainbow trout. Look for the March 23 issue of Lone Star Outdoor News for more spring break fishing action.
TURKEY SEASON UNDERWAY DOWN SOUTH
The spring turkey season began on St. Patrick’s Day in South Texas, and landowners and biologists say the turkey numbers are good. Whether they will come to the call this early in the season is yet to be seen, but once the hens get on their nests, hunting should improve. Look for a report on the opening weekend in the March 23 issue of Lone Star Outdoor News.
GET YOUR RANGER NOW
Lee Hoffpauir is on the hunt to win a big sales contest with Polaris, and needs to move as many Polaris Rangers as he can in March and April. You know what that means — even better deals! His store in the small town has been the top Ranger dealer in the country before — help him do it again. Head to the Goldthwaite store now, give them a call or like them on Facebook.
GIVE DEER THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Deer hunters are putting out feed for the deer herds to replenish their bodies with added protein and nutrients. At the lease, Lone Star Outdoor News gave the deer options, putting Lyssy & Eckel protein in the All Seasons Feeders and whole cottonseed in homemade feeders.
