Texas Tackle, Hunting and Boat Show on tap next weekend

by Lili Keys

The Texas Tackle, Hunting and Boat Show presented by The Wildfire Weekend and EZAngler.com is one the largest outdoor shows in the southern and central region of the U.S. produced by Montgomery Productions.

This year’s show will be held on January 10–12 at the Mesquite Convention Center & Rodeo Arena.

This year’s show will deliver more outdoor related sport exhibitors than any show in Texas and more bulk tackle than any fishing and outdoor show in the U.S. In addition, attendees will be able have the opportunity to purchase thousands of items discounted below wholesale prices including guns, ammunition, hunting knives, outdoor supplies, men’s and women’s apparel. Skeeter, BassCat, Legend, Ranger, Triton, Phoenix, Express, SeaArk, as well as kayak, hunting boats, and ATV companies will have several great products on display and for sell.

Tackle Hunting and Boat Show Award winners will be elected through a consumer voting awards system with attendees presented with ballots printed on the backside of each entry ticket. Best of Show Award categories are fishing product, fishing guide, hunting product, hunting guide, boat, boat accessory, booth presentation and entertainment attraction.

Anglers will be able to improve their knowledge and techniques by participating in numerous educational presentations by a stellar lineup of world famous pro fishermen, including Jimmy Houston, Mike Iaconelli, Chris Lane, Gary Klein, Brent Chapman, Alton Jones, Brian Clark, Mike Kernan, Scott Dean, Cody Ryan, Two-time Crappie Tour Champion Todd Huckabee, Jarad Roper, Cat Fish legend Danny King, Chuck Justice and many more. Also, the Bud Light Team Trail Championship Live Weigh-in will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. on the Bud Light Stage.

Hunters will also have the opportunity to increase their knowledge through various presentations including the legendary archer Frank Addington, who will educate and entertain by performing his “Aspirin Buster Archery Show.” You don’t want to miss Frank shooting an aspirin out of the air with his bow from behind his back. Listen to Antler Dog’s Roger Sigler demonstrate how to teach your dog to hunt deer sheds and outfitter Harry Wood share how to find monster elk and mule deer in the Midwest.

Don’t miss the Worlds Outstanding Whitetail KINGS Display with some of largest whitetail ever recorded.  Attendees can bring deer mounts or antlers for Boone & Crockett/Pope & Young’s official free scoring and display on the Big Buck Wall for chances to win cash prizes by the People’s Choice Contest.

There will also be plenty of family fun including Jason Reynold’s and his Fetch-n-Fish’s High Flyin’ Retrievers Dog Show off his Bass Tub.  Bob Steele will be on hand to present his Great Bear Show with his fully trained grizzly bears. Kids will get a chance to test their fishing skills at the Army Bass Angler’s Kids Fishing Pond, where every kid is guaranteed to catch a fish. Other kids and family fun includes paintball, mechanical bull riding, and bungee bounces.  Friday, Jan. 10 is Kids Night beginning at 6 p.m., with the first 500 kids will go on a scavenger hunt for red balloons to get free products from participating companies.

“We try to be as diverse as possible in our show productions to have a little something for everyone to enjoy,” said show Director Marcus Montgomery.
