Story from Turnbull Restoration

Turnbull Restoration is world-renowned for restoring classic firearms to their original condition. The company is now offering factory-new Winchester Model 1892 Deluxe Takedowns and Henry lever-action rifles, each featuring the same finishes and attention to detail that have made Turnbull the premier name in firearm restoration for the past 35 years.

Available in .44-40 Win and .45 Colt, the Turnbull-Finished Winchester 1892 Deluxe Takedown features a configuration that is only available through Turnbull. The factory-new Winchester sports grade 5/6 wood that is hand-refinished by Turnbull in classic Winchester red. The 24” full-octagon barrel and full-length magazine tube are rust blued by the restoration company. Perhaps the most distinctive finish on this John M. Browning icon is its color case hardened receiver, lever, hammer, butt plate and forend cap, each completed with Turnbull’s traditional bone charcoal methods. Rounding out the transformation to Mr. Browning’s original design is Turnbull’s tang safety conversion and lightening of the main spring.

The Henry-Turnbull Rifle is a collaboration with Henry Repeating Arms and Top Shot Armory, LLC to produce a customized version of the popular Henry lever-action rifle. The rifle’s receiver, lever, hammer and forend cap are each color case hardened by Turnbull Restoration using its famous old-world methods. The limited edition is available in seven different calibers: .30-30 Win, .327 Fed Mag, .357 Mag, .41 Rem Mag, .44 Mag, .45 Colt and .45-70 Gov’t. This family of Henry-Turnbull Rifles started life as “The President’s Collection”, where serial #1 from each caliber was specially-engraved and auctioned during this year’s NSSF SHOT Show. All proceeds went to support the Hunting Heritage Trust.

“The Winchester 1892 is one of those historically significant firearms that every enthusiast and collector knows,” said Turnbull Restoration CEO and Founder Doug Turnbull. “Some of these have been passed from generation to generation within American families. We’re proud to take brand-new examples of this amazing rifle and turn them into family heirlooms to be passed along.”

On the Henry-Turnbull Rifle, Doug continued, “Working with the excellent people at Henry and Top Shot has been a pleasure. It’s our shared dedication to preserving the legacy of great American lever guns that’s brought us together. Henry rifles have been beloved American-made lever guns for as long as I can remember, and we’re proud to be able to work with them on this offering.”
